A career as a veterinary nurse is a truly rewarding one. It involves daily patient care, surgical assistance, medical routines and working with veterinarians and pet owners to provide the best of care to beloved domestic pets and exotic species alike.
Students of veterinary nursing have gone on to specialise in nursing areas such as emergency and critical care, dentistry and surgery.
Those wishing to gain employment as a veterinary nurse can benefit from foundational training in Certificate I in Animal Studies RUV10104 or if already employed, commence the veterinary nursing qualification program which includes Certificate II in Animal Studies RUV20104 (either veterinary receptionist or veterinary nursing streams) and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing RUV40404.
Upon achieving Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, nurses can enter advanced courses such as CTVN Veterinary Nurse Manager or CTVN Veterinary Nurse Technician.
Alternatively, nurses working with a veterinary surgical or dental specialist or in an Emergency and Critical Care facility may be eligible (under the Training Package rules) to undertake one of the Diplomas of Veterinary Nursing (RUV50204, RUV50304 or RUV50404).
