Queensland Microchip Legislation

Microchipping in Queensland

Ensure your compliance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008.

From the 1st July 2009, the Queensland Government’s Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 will come into effect. All implanters, current and future, will be required to gain accreditation and re-authorisation.

Veterinarians

Veterinarians are required to familiarise themselves with the Act and the changes it means for the practice and their clients and patients. Only accredited implanters, with an AIN (Authorised Implanter Number) can microchip after the 1 July 2009.

Cost: $88 (including GST)

It takes approximately one hour to complete and you will be issued with a certificate of participation at the completion of the course and directed to where you may apply for an Authorised Implanter Number.
